We are currently on the look-out for an experienced Machine Operator within a production/manufacturing setting. This role sits at the very heart of our production line and manages all aspects of the end-to-end production of some of the UK’s best known tissue brands.
We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to develop and progress within the company. The successful candidate will work on our rostered 4 shift pattern working 2 days then 2 nights so you can get that all important work/life balance.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Maintain the continuous running of our packaging machines
- Facilitate product change overs including the loading of polyethylene reels
- Responsible for the effective running of the log saw as and when required
- Interact with the machine to solve minor issues/breakdown leading to the enhanced productivity of the machines
- Carry out quality checks on productions when required and report any faults to the respective person
- Carry out small maintenance activities and adjustments
- Support the colleagues in case of need and overview the end line process when required
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Be accountable for high levels of housekeeping of the working area throughout the shift
- Strong awareness of health & safety requirements in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery and automated system
Quality & Accountability
- Ability to identify and report product defects or process deviations
- Willingness to stop the line and escalate issues where standards are not met
- High level of attention to detail and ownership of work
- Understanding that accuracy of checks and records is critical
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous manufacturing experience running automated packaging lines, desirable to have previous supervisory experience
- Ability to carry out machine set-ups, changeovers, and basic fault finding
- Strong understanding of quality standards and in-process checks
- Commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene standards
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions accurately
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
- Excellent decision making abilities and the confidence to take on responsibilities
- Good level of numeracy and literacy (for recording checks, counts, and documentation)
- Desire to progress and advance within the role
WORKING HOURS
4 on 4 off Shift Pattern: 2 days - 2 nights
