Based in Hamilton, Leicester, the Sofidel Group is a leading manufacturer of paper for hygienic and domestic use worldwide, operating in 13 countries with more than 6900 employees. The site in Hamilton houses a Paper Mill and Conversion facilities, operating 24/7 and employing 290.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance professional, with a mechanical bias, to make a major impact on the performance of the Paper Mill. With a practical ‘hands on’ approach, and predominantly shop floor based, you will support the growth and development of the Mill through the provision of a high performing maintenance function, with key responsibilities including:
- Management, development and leadership of a maintenance team across both Mechanical and Electrical functions, engaging and inspiring the team to reach its full potential.
- Ensuring that maintenance engineering services provided to the Mill are of the highest standard, further developing department safety culture.
- Taking a ‘hands on’ practical approach to delivering continuous improvement in Mill engineering performance, including in areas such as downtime, machine utilisation/availability and changeover/start up times.
- Management and development of a robust maintenance strategy for the Mill, both short term and long term, to ensure best practice and incorporating planned preventative maintenance programmes.
Candidates will be time served Engineers, ideally with formal engineering qualifications. Mechanically biased, they will have proven Maintenance Management experience gained in a PLC controlled, complex manufacturing environment, with the ability to develop, coach and motivate an experienced team. The role may also appeal to ambitious Engineers/Assistant Managers, with some team/people development experience, seeking their first autonomous management role.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate engineering improvement through the use of best practice and continuous improvement tools and the adaptability to work both practically and strategically. A knowledge of condition and preventative maintenance strategies is required, ideally along with a knowledge of SAP PM modules.
