In this key supervisory position within the Logistics Waste department, you will oversee daily waste management operations, ensuring high standards of health and safety, infection control, and service delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for managing workload allocation and ensuring timely completion of waste management duties using the Hive System.
  • Liaise effectively with MFT and Sodexo staff to resolve issues, respond to ad hoc requirements, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Conduct staff training, including moving and handling, and ensure all team members adhere to health and safety regulations and uniform standards.
  • Monitor and manage sickness absence calls, conduct return to work interviews, and escalate issues to the Logistics Manager when necessary.
  • Oversee team administration tasks such as managing annual leave requests, completing appraisals, and ensuring proper documentation is returned to HR.
  • Lead on health and safety compliance, incident reporting, and ensure waste collection procedures align with MFT guidelines.
  • Provide team leadership by offering cover, resolving on shift issues, and conducting team briefings to maintain high service standards.

  • Good communication skills to enable communication with colleagues, patients and clients regarding on job duties.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment (desirable).
  • Good understanding of health and safety and manual handling practices.
  • Ability to respond constructively and professionally to unpredictable situations.
  • Attend mandatory induction and health and safety related training and all other required training.
