Sodexo is seeking a motivated and hands-on Waste and Cleaning Operative to help keep our site safe, efficient, and running at its best. You’ll be at the heart of daily operations—operating waste equipment, sorting recycling, and maintaining a variety of areas to a high standard, all while working in line with Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work. As part of Sodexo’s One Service Team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues, take pride in your work, and step in wherever needed to deliver a consistent, high-quality service that people can rely on.
What you’ll do:
- Take ownership of waste management tasks, including stacking and wrapping cardboard for recycling or reuse, operating balers for plastic and cardboard, and keeping recycling areas clean, organised, and efficient.
- Play a key role in site cleanliness by maintaining external areas, offices, toilets, and carrying out both internal and external window cleaning to a high standard.
- Operate equipment such as ride-on scrubber dryers confidently and safely to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
- Work in line with COSHH assessments, RAMS, and guidance from Site Leads to ensure all tasks are carried out safely and correctly.
- Stay alert and proactive by reporting hazards, complying with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, and helping to maintain a safe working environment for everyone.
- Be a supportive team player—contributing to a clean, professional space, keeping accurate records as required, and actively participating in training and performance development.
What you bring:
- Proven experience in a cleaning, waste management, or facilities environment, ideally within a fast-paced setting.
- Relevant training or certifications in cleaning, waste handling, or health and safety (desirable).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure.
- A strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safe working practices.
