Shift Times: 6:30 am - 1:00 pm OR 1:00 pm - 7:30 pm

£12.00 per hour + any enhancements

As a Ward Assistant at Nuffield Derby Hospital, you will deliver nutritious meals and a positive experience to patients, staff and visitors. Your cheerful attitude and friendly interactions can brighten everyone’s day and bring comfort in challenging times.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver a high‑quality food and catering service to patients and staff.
  • Prepare and assemble patient meals accurately, ensuring special dietary requirements are met.
  • Present and serve meals in a professional, friendly and hygienic manner.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across ward kitchens, catering areas, equipment and utensils.
  • Support stock control activities, including stock rotation and waste monitoring.
  • Safely transport food trolleys and assist with meal service throughout the hospital.
  • Follow all food safety, health & safety, safeguarding and company policies to ensure a safe environment for patients and colleagues.

What You Bring:

  • Reliability, punctuality and a strong attendance record.
  • The ability to work efficiently as part of a team and independently when required.
  • A willingness to learn and follow procedures, training and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when preparing meals and completing records.
  • The ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining high standards.
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this.
