As a Food Service Assistant at Sodexo in Royal Stoke Hospital, you'll play an important part in preparing and serving nutritious, comforting meals that support patient recovery and wellbeing. You'll also help maintain a clean, safe environment in the kitchen and dining areas. With a cheerful attitude and great customer service, your presence can make a real difference in someone's day.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve hospitality orders across the hospital, including items such as sandwiches, bacon and sausage baps, salads, and tea and coffee.
  • Ensure all hospitality requests are prepared accurately according to orders and delivered on time.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety in line with hospital and health regulations.
  • Monitor and order stock as required to ensure sufficient supplies for hospitality services.
  • Support the wider catering team with food preparation and general kitchen duties, serving on the servery and till when needed.
  • Deliver hospitality items to different departments across the hospital using a company vehicle when required.
  • Provide a friendly and professional service to staff and visitors while maintaining a well-organised hospitality area.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Applicants should ideally be 25 or over for insurance purposes to drive the company vehicle and assist with deliveries across the site.
  • Previous experience in food preparation and service, ideally within a fast-paced, customer-facing catering or retail environment.
  • Level 2 Food Safety certificate preferred, with a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, clients and staff at all levels.
  • Strong time management, organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure while remaining self-motivated and positive about learning.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and hold a full manual driving licence to support deliveries using a company vehicle.
  • The ability to stay on your feet and work efficiently during busy service periods.
