Salary: £14.35 per hour (circa £32,500 per annum)
Hours: 40 hours per week |Shifts: 5 days over 7
Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks
Checks: Enhanced PVG required
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals within a school environment. You will help maintain excellent food standards, ensure full compliance with food safety and allergen legislation, and support the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You will take responsibility for the kitchen and team when the Executive Chef is absent.
Key Responsibilities
Support menu preparation, food production, and presentation
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen management
Supervise kitchen staff and assist with training and development
Monitor stock, food production, and wastage
Assist with school events and functions (rota-based, occasional out-of-hours)
What We’re Looking For
Experience in a similar Sous Chef or senior kitchen role
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and catering standards
