Heritage Portfolio are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join the team at our Central Production Kitchen in Leith, Edinburgh. We operate within some of Scotland's leading cultural destinations, including Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, V&A Dundee, Mansfield Traquair, the Signet Library and Musselburgh Racecourses.

We are looking for a motivated and dependable General Kitchen Assistant to support our Back of House (BOH) and Chef teams. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and enjoys being part of a collaborative kitchen team.

Package Description

12.71 per hour Casual hours

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the BOH team with cleaning duties, including washing equipment and utensils, ensuring sufficient equipment is available for production and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness across all production areas, adhering to company policies and high hygiene standards.
  • Assist the Chef team with food preparation and event packing, including peeling and chopping vegetables, weighing ingredients, and gathering required equipment and supplies.
  • Provide support to chefs during food service at venues, ensuring smooth and professional delivery.
  • Carry out end-of-day cleaning tasks to maintain excellent hygiene standards in kitchen and storage areas, in line with food safety regulations.
  • Assist the stores team with organising deliveries, checking stock, and ensuring all food safety procedures are followed during storage.

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of food hygiene standards.
