Job Introduction

As a General Assistant / Cook at Sodexo in Nuffield Shrewsbury, you'll play a vital role in supporting the efficient running of kitchen operations by assisting across all areas as needed, including following recipes, covering occasional cooking shifts, and supporting stock management through ordering and stocktaking.
Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of cleanliness by washing kitchen equipment and ensuring a safe, hygienic working environment, as well as receiving and storing catering deliveries in line with training. The role also involves front‑of‑house duties such as serving food, operating the till, maintaining coffee stations, and providing cover for ward duties as required.
What you'll do:
- Follow recipes and prepare meals for staff and patients
- Support all areas of the kitchen as required
- Clean and clear restaurant tables, bins, and kitchen areas in line with schedules
- Wash pans, trays, crockery, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment, especially in pot wash areas
- Provide excellent customer service, including serving food, operating the till, and supporting ward duties
- Comply with food safety, health & safety, allergen processes, and site policies
