Sodexo is looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Chef / Apprentice Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team at Larkhill Garrison, Larkhill, SP4 8QT. This is the perfect opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, gain hands‑on experience, and work towards a recognised qualification‑all while contributing to a fast‑paced and rewarding environment. As a Trainee Chef, you'll play a key part in the preparation, cooking, and service of high-quality food, supporting the kitchen team and working under the guidance of the chef in charge. You'll learn essential culinary skills while helping to ensure that all activities meet Sodexo, MOD, and national food safety standards.
What you'll do:
- Learn and develop core cooking and food preparation techniques from experienced chefs
- Assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to high standards
- Support with portion control, food presentation, and safe catering practices
- Maintain excellent personal and operational hygiene at all times
- Follow clean as you go principles and ensure working areas are tidy and safe
- Monitor, record, and maintain correct food temperatures (fridges, freezers, hot cabinets, serveries)
- Ensure proper disposal, storage, and decanting of food items
- Adhere to all Food Safety, Health & Safety, and COSHH regulations
- Comply with opening/closing procedures, safety checks, and kitchen handover processes
- Work collaboratively as part of a friendly, supportive team
- Continue developing your skills and knowledge throughout your apprenticeship
