What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading and motivating the kitchen team to deliver an outstanding catering service.
  • Preparing and cooking meals to agreed recipes, portion sizes and quality standards.
  • Planning menus in line with client requirements and ensuring meals are served on time.
  • Managing food ordering, stock control and stock rotation to minimise waste and achieve food cost targets.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in line with HACCP and Food Safety legislation.
  • Ensuring accurate completion of food safety records, including temperature monitoring.
  • Managing kitchen budgets and key performance indicators, including food margins and stock takes.
  • Ensuring all catering equipment is used safely, maintained correctly and any faults are reported promptly.
  • Promoting a positive health, safety and food safety culture across the kitchen.
  • Supporting and developing team members through coaching and training.
  • Reporting incidents, hazards and any operational issues, taking corrective action where appropriate.
  • Participating in training, meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all relevant legislation.
  • Lead by example in promoting Sodexo's Health, Safety and Environment standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of COSHH regulations and ensure all cleaning chemicals are stored and used safely.
  • Ensure all team members understand and follow company health and safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 5 years' professional catering experience.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Kitchen Management or supervisory role.
  • Previous catering management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food costing, stock management and KPIs.
  • A Food Safety & Hygiene qualification.
  • Excellent understanding of HACCP principles and food safety management systems.
  • Experience managing budgets, reducing waste and maintaining high food quality standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach to health, safety and continuous improvement.
