HMP Peterborough is the UK's only dual-purpose prison, housing both men and women. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Chaplain to provide spiritual guidance, religious care, and pastoral support to prisoners, staff, and their families. You will work as part of a multi-faith team to lead worship, deliver faith and non-faith-based programmes, and support individuals through personal challenges. Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual guidance, religious care, and pastoral support to prisoners, staff, and their families, ensuring inclusivity across all faiths and traditions.
- Lead and facilitate worship, prayer, and faith-based programmes that promote wellbeing and rehabilitation.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver the "Faith and Pastoral Care" specification and contribute to wider faith and non-faith learning initiatives.
- Mentor and support chaplaincy volunteers and colleagues, offering care and guidance following incidents or crises.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external faith communities to support prisoner resettlement and reintegration.
- Contribute to staff training, policy development, and the continuous improvement of chaplaincy services in line with Service Delivery Indicators (SDIs).
Qualifications and requirements
- Experienced in providing inclusive spiritual guidance, religious care, and pastoral support across multiple faiths and traditions.
- Skilled in leading and facilitating worship, prayer, and faith-based programmes that encourage personal growth and rehabilitation.
- Collaborative and supportive team member with a mentoring approach.
- Capable of building strong external faith community links to enhance resettlement opportunities.
- Demonstrates strong decision-making, communication, and service delivery aligned with prison and chaplaincy objectives.
- Spent 3-year period in the UK.
- Needs to have a Biblical Diploma.
- Holds or is willing to obtain Enhanced Level 2 & CTC clearance (processed by site VCP).
Salary and hours
- Salary: 17,479.80 (pro-rata)
- Hours: Weekend work only (days negotiable)
