- We're looking for an experienced
PAT Tester to join our team on a casual, zero-hours basis , supporting our site when additional testing resource is required.
This is a hands‑on technical role where you'll inspect, test and record portable electrical equipment across a busy operational site, helping ensure appliances remain safe to use and compliant with relevant electrical safety requirements.
As this is a casual position, there are no guaranteed weekly hours .
Shifts will be offered according to business and operational requirements, making this a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible work alongside other commitments.
What you'll do
- Carry out visual inspections and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) using approved testing equipment.
- Follow the site PAT testing programme, prioritising equipment according to risk, testing dates and operational requirements.
- Accurately record appliance details, test results, defects and actions taken.
- Apply appropriate pass/fail labels and maintain accurate asset information.
- Identify unsafe or failed equipment and immediately remove it from service where required.
- Carry out minor repairs, such as replacing plugs or fuses, where safe, authorised and within your competence.
- Re-test equipment following minor repairs before returning it to service.
- Escalate equipment requiring specialist electrical repair or further investigation.
- Ensure PAT testing equipment remains safe, serviceable and within calibration dates.
- Work safely across operational, office, catering and support areas.
- Coordinate with colleagues and site teams to access equipment while minimising disruption to operations.
- Maintain accurate records and provide updates on completed and outstanding testing.
- Follow all relevant health & safety procedures, risk assessments, safe systems of work and site requirements.
What you'll bring
- Previous experience carrying out
PAT testing within a commercial or operational environment .
- A recognised
PAT Testing qualification or certification .
- Previous experience working as an
Electrician , with relevant and current certifications/licences.
Current 18th Edition qualification .
NVQ Level 2 in an Electrical Discipline , or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Good knowledge of electrical safety, testing equipment and safe testing methods.
- The ability to identify electrical hazards and determine when equipment should be removed from service.
- Confidence carrying out minor electrical repairs within your level of competence.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping skills.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and safely across a busy operational site.
- A flexible approach to working hours, as shifts will be offered according to business requirements.
