Overview
Painter and Decorator
Salary up to £32,000, depending on experience. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a possibility of occasional evening and weekend work. Site based role at HMP Peterborough.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance interior and exterior spaces at HMP Peterborough.
- Deliver a wide range of tasks including painting, wallpapering, and aesthetic improvements as part of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works.
- Contribute to minor alteration and fabrication (MAF) projects across the prison estate.
- Manage work orders via the helpdesk system, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders; liaise with clients, colleagues, and engineers to coordinate and deliver works that meet safety and quality expectations.
- Adhere to health and safety standards while delivering a consistent and professional level of service in a secure environment.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Painting and decorating experience with NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent.
- Experience in the building services industry.
- PASWA, IPAF or relevant licences and training.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good awareness of health and safety standards.
Desirable:
- Experience working within a prison or secure facility environment.
- Knowledge of MAF and PPM processes.
