Join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Hospital as an Operational Estates Officer (Engineering) and play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of our extensive estate infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the site-wide steam distribution and condensate systems, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Oversee the inspection and maintenance of pressure vessels in accordance with the Pressure Systems Regulations.
  • Manage all air conditioning plant and systems across the estate.
  • Ensure Legionella control measures are implemented and compliant with HTMs and HSE L8 guidance.
  • Act as an Authorised Person for Medical Gases and oversee associated safety procedures.
  • Coordinate major infrastructure shutdowns in collaboration with affected departments and the permit-to-work systems.
  • Manage external contractors for maintenance and project works, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to at least HNC level or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
  • Proven experience in maintaining mechanical building services.
  • Qualified as an Authorised Person (Medical Gases).
  • Previous experience managing steam-raising plant and leading teams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, health and safety legislation, and Legionella control.
  • Skilled in contract management, budgeting, and report writing.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and decision-making skills, with computer literacy in Microsoft Office.

Salary: £25.26 to £28.90 per hour, dependent on experience

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
