The role is to oversee a skilled portering team, ensuring safe and reliable transport services across the hospital, facilitating the smooth movement of records, materials and equipment to support clinical services.
What you'll do:
- Monitor and manage the Hive system to ensure timely completion of all portering jobs.
- Allocate work and responsibilities to portering staff, ensuring proper use and return of handheld devices.
- Coordinate staff training, including moving and handling, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage staff scheduling, annual leave, sickness absence and conduct performance appraisals.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare and support staff to resolve issues and coordinate portering services.
- Ensure all portering duties are performed in line with Trust policies, including incident reporting and compliance.
- Provide emergency response coordination during incidents such as cardiac arrests, fires and other critical situations.
