Sodexo provides critical Hard Facilities Management services across two of Manchester's busiest hospital sites. Our engineering teams play a vital role in keeping these complex clinical environments safe, compliant and fully operational so frontline staff can deliver outstanding patient care. This role supports essential services across Manchester Royal Infirmary and Wythenshawe Hospital.
Location: Manchester Oxford Road Campus (MFT) and Wythenshawe Hospitals.
Contract: Permanent, full-time (Mon-Fri) with rota/on-call participation.
Salary: £15.88 - £17.91 (inclusive of weekly RRP where applicable) depending on experience.

What you bring
- Essential: A recognised Level 3 qualification or apprenticeship in your discipline (e.g., Electrical Installation, Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, Carpentry/Joinery, HVAC/Building Services).
- Demonstrable experience in maintenance, fault-finding, repair and installation work.
- Strong awareness of Health and Safety, safe systems of work, and working in complex environments.
- Ability to work independently, manage workloads and adapt to changing priorities.
- Good communication skills and confidence liaising with colleagues, contractors and clinical teams.
- Willingness to undertake additional training (e.g., HTMs, permit-to-work systems, specialist plant training).
- A "can-do" attitude, excellent communication skills and ideally experience with fire doors or healthcare environments.
- Desirable: Experience working in a healthcare or other highly regulated environment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation or guidance (e.g., HTMs, COSHH, L8 for water systems, PUWER).
- Multiskilled: experience across trades or building systems.
- Comfortable using CAFM/BMS platforms or digital maintenance tools.

What you’ll do
- Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Diagnosing and resolving faults within electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC or building-fabric systems.
- Supporting installation, replacement and upgrade work across both large plant and everyday building assets.
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Trust policies, and regulatory standards relevant to your trade.
- Using digital tools such as PDAs, BMS/CAFM systems, and electronic job allocation platforms.
- Working independently or as part of a multi-trade team in a live healthcare environment.
- Participating in on-call rotas and supporting urgent or emergency repairs when required.
Your work ensures the reliability of essential services—from ventilation and heating to plumbing and electrical distribution—and supports a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
