Sodexo is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of an integrated facilities management operation at a high-profile pharmaceutical site. This is a hands-on operational leadership position for someone who can bring together service excellence, people leadership, client relationships, commercial performance and compliance.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders and site leadership to ensure that all services are delivered safely, efficiently and consistently to a high standard.
The role:
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operational performance of the site, ensuring that Sodexo's services meet contractual requirements, client expectations and statutory standards.
- Oversee a broad range of services, including cleaning, housekeeping, catering and technical services, acting as a key point of contact for both the client and site users.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the integrated FM operation, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery.
- Lead, develop and motivate operational teams, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders and act as a key operational point of contact.
- Own the customer experience and ensure issues are resolved quickly and professionally.
- Deliver against agreed SLAs, KPIs and contractual requirements.
- Support budget management, cost control and commercial performance.
- Ensure statutory, contractual, health and safety and compliance requirements are consistently met.
- Manage staffing, training, performance and workforce planning.
- Lead audits, operational reviews and improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with site leads and wider Sodexo teams to deliver a seamless service.
- Support incident, emergency and crisis management when required.
- Identify opportunities to improve service quality and add value for the client.
Client & People Leadership:
You'll build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders while leading a diverse workforce. You'll set clear expectations, develop and motivate teams, manage performance and ensure the operation is appropriately resourced.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
You will maintain high standards across health and safety, fire safety, COSHH, first aid, incident reporting and statutory compliance, ensuring risks are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience in a commercial facilities, FM or service environment.
- Proven experience managing a diverse operational workforce.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Excellent client and customer relationship management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to understand and use financial information.
- Experience working against KPIs, SLAs and defined performance standards.
- A strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
- The confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- A Managing Safely, IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
Desirable:
- A BIFM, NVQ or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in facilities management.
- Experience delivering training within a structured corporate environment.
- Experience managing competing client and customer expectations.
- Experience within an integrated facilities management operation.
