About the role
We're looking for a skilled and motivated Head Barista to lead our coffee operations at the Shell Centre in Waterloo. You'll be responsible for delivering consistently high-quality coffee and customer experiences, managing stock and menus, and leading a team of Baristas and Food Service Assistants. This is a great opportunity for an experienced barista with leadership skills to take the next step in their career - and enjoy a Monday to Friday schedule with no weekends.
What you'll do
- Lead the day-to-day running of two busy coffee shops, ensuring service and quality meet brand standards.
- Make and serve excellent coffee, while training and supporting your team to do the same.
- Manage stock, ordering, menu planning, and compliance paperwork.
- Support the Catering Manager with events, marketing initiatives, and operational improvements.
- Motivate your team and create a positive, customer-focused environment.
- Ensure health, safety, and food hygiene standards are always met.
What we're looking for
- Proven barista experience in a high-volume coffee (e.g., Costa) or a catering/hospitality environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or mentoring a team.
- Knowledge of current coffee and catering trends.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable with stock control, ordering, and basic administration.
- Aware of food hygiene and health & safety compliance.
