Job Introduction
We're looking for a friendly, reliable and flexible
Food Service Assistant
to join our catering team.
You’ll support the delivery of high-quality food and hospitality services across the kitchen, café and dining areas, helping to create a clean, welcoming and professional environment for customers, visitors and colleagues.
This is a varied role where you’ll support food and beverage service, barista duties, till operation, cleaning, stock management and general catering activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, serve and replenish food, beverages and catering products.
Provide friendly and professional customer service.
Operate coffee machines and provide barista services.
Operate tills and follow cash-handling procedures.
Support click & collect services through the Everyday App.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation.
Complete cleaning schedules and carry out pot wash duties.
Receive, check, store and rotate stock using FIFO principles.
Monitor and record food storage temperatures.
Follow Food Safety, HACCP, COSHH and Health & Safety procedures.
Report equipment faults, hazards and maintenance issues promptly.Maintain clean, safe and organised catering and storage areas.
Complete required records, checklists and documentation accurately.
Support colleagues and work flexibly across the catering operation.
Attend training, team briefings and meetings as required.
What We’re Looking For:
Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
Works well both independently and as part of a team.
Is organised, reliable and able to prioritise tasks.
Has a positive and flexible approach to changing operational needs.
Understands the importance of Food Safety and Health & Safety.
Has good attention to detail and basic numeracy and literacy skills.
Is comfortable with physical duties, including standing, lifting and handling stock.
Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in catering, hospitality, food service, café or customer service.
Barista or coffee machine experience.
Till and cash-handling experience.
Knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP or COSHH.
Food Safety/Hygiene or Manual Handling training.
Experience within a corporate, government, public sector or commercial catering environment.
Previous experience is beneficial, but a positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to excellent customer service are equally important.
