Hours: 42.5 hours per week
Working: 5 days out of 6 (Monday to Saturday 07:00 - 16:00 / 10:00 - 18:00 / 11:00 - 19:00)
As a Kitchen Porter for Sodexo in Hurstpierpoint College, you will be a key part of the kitchen team. You will be responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness within the kitchen and food & beverage preparation areas. Your cheerful, can-do attitude will make you a major part of everyone’s everyday experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Wash all crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, and equipment, as well as food service equipment.
- Ensure the following are kept clean and tidy to a very high standard:
- Floors & Walls
- Bins - inside and out
- Crushing and disposal of cardboard and boxes
- Fridges & Freezers (with assistance from chefs)
- Delivery areas
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of working areas.
- Transport provisions, equipment and other catering related items as required.
- Adhere to all health and safety, fire, hygiene, and COSHH regulations governing your work, ensuring the correct chemicals/detergents are always used.
- Report all accidents (and near misses) to the Chef.
- Report any shortages in equipment or chemicals to the Supervisor.
- Ensure that all food is prepared in the environment with due care and attention particularly in regard to customers' special dietary requirements; for example, nut, dairy or wheat allergies.

- Basic food-handling skills.
- Ability to lift heavy items and work in a standing position for long periods (up to 8 hours).
- No previous work experience required.
