Join Sodexo as a Kitchen Porter at Sevenoaks School and play a key role behind the scenes by maintaining cleanliness, supporting the chefs, and ensuring equipment and workspaces are ready for service. You'll be part of a supportive team that values care, teamwork, and creating a positive dining experience for students and staff every day.
What You'll Do
- Wash and sanitise all crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, equipment, and food service items, ensuring they are clean and ready for use.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all back‑of‑house areas, including floors, walls, bins, delivery areas, and storage spaces.
- Assist with cleaning and organising fridges and freezers, and ensure food storage areas remain safe and hygienic.
- Crush and dispose of cardboard and packaging safely, keeping waste areas tidy and compliant with procedures.
- Follow all health and safety, fire, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations, using the correct chemicals at all times.
- Report accidents, near misses, and any equipment or chemical shortages promptly to the Chef or Supervisor.
What You Bring
- A positive, can‑do attitude with a commitment to keeping work environments clean, safe, and organised.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to support colleagues and follow instructions efficiently.
- The ability to work reliably under pressure while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
- A basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to work towards one).
- An Enhanced DBS clearance is required and will be carried out.
- A proactive and dependable approach, with a willingness to learn, develop skills, and help improve kitchen operations.
- Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or food service environment, particularly in a school or similar setting, is desirable but not essential.
