Join our team at Manchester Central Hospital as a Junior Estates Officer HVAC and be a vital part of maintaining a world class healthcare environment. You will play a key role in delivering planned maintenance, supporting capital projects, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance operational reliability. We are seeking a dedicated professional with a strong background in HVAC systems, health and safety compliance, and project management, who is eager to contribute to the delivery of safe, sustainable, and high quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned maintenance of HVAC and ventilation systems in line with HTM standards.
- Support capital projects, including design review, testing, commissioning, and operational handovers.
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance operational reliability.
- Oversee risk management, maintain risk registers, and ensure HSE compliance.
- Produce and review technical reports, and manage safety documentation such as Permits to Work, Standing Instructions and Sanctions to Work.
- Coordinate with clinical staff, contractors and stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Utilise predictive maintenance, reliability‑centred maintenance and integrate BIM and CAFM systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 in Ventilation or equivalent and previous AP Experience.
- Extensive experience managing large healthcare environmental systems (HVAC, BEMS, microbiological safety cabinets, LEV systems).
- Proven ability to oversee and deliver complex capital and lifecycle projects.
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations such as HTM 06, HTM 03‑01, COSHH, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Experience in risk management, maintaining risk registers and implementing mitigation measures.
- Capability to produce technical reports and manage safety documentation.
- Experience in managing and developing a team of competent persons and liaising with stakeholders, clinical staff and contractors.
- Familiarity with modern maintenance technologies – Predictive Maintenance, Reliability‑Centred Maintenance, integration with BIM and CAFM.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage maintenance and project works.
- Health and Safety awareness and COSHH knowledge.
