Are you an experienced HR professional looking for an opportunity to make a real impact? We are seeking a proactive and resilient HR Advisor to join our People team at HMP Addiewell. As a key member of the HR function, you will act as a trusted advisor to managers across the site, providing expert guidance on recruitment, absence management, and employee relations matters. This is a varied and fast‑paced role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to influence people practices and support the delivery of an effective and engaged workforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for managers on employee relations and absence management matters
  • Supporting managers with end-to-end case management, including investigations, disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence cases
  • Coordinating recruitment activity from vacancy approval through to onboarding and induction
  • Working closely with hiring managers and the central resourcing team to ensure vacancies are progressed efficiently
  • Building strong working relationships across the wider HR community, including shared services and regional teams
  • Monitoring and proactively managing employee relations cases and suspensions
  • Supporting HR reporting, data analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with local HR projects and people‑focused initiatives
  • Deputising for the HR Business Partner on identified topics and meetings

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working within an HR function
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • High level of confidentiality, professionalism and discretion
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced environment
  • CIPD qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Experience of SAP HR systems
