- Collect different waste streams from departments and buildings across the site.
- Ensure waste is
- correctly segregated, supporting recycling and environmental targets.
- Move waste, materials and equipment safely around the site.
- Operate
- forklift trucks and waste-handling equipment where required.
- Complete daily safety checks on forklifts and waste-handling equipment and report any faults.
- Operate waste-processing and power-cleaning equipment safely.
- Check waste bins and containers are secure and safe before moving them.
- Clean waste bins, containers and waste-handling equipment.
- Maintain the cleanliness of
- yard areas, workshops, plant rooms and machinery.
- Carry out minor repairs to bins and equipment using basic hand tools where appropriate.
- Identify and report incorrect waste disposal, leaks, hazards or other waste-management issues.
- Respond to scheduled tasks and ad-hoc operational requests.
- Follow all relevant
- Safe Systems of Work, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and COSHH procedures.
- Wear the appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices at all times.
- Complete relevant training and maintain required standards of compliance.
- Support the wider team with other reasonable operational duties when required.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
- Previous experience working within
- waste operations or a similar industrial/operational environment.
- A basic understanding of waste management, recycling and waste segregation.
- A strong awareness of
- Health & Safety and safe working practices.
- The ability to operate equipment safely and follow procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A reliable, practical and hands-on approach.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to working hours and duties.
- The ability to carry out the physical requirements of the role.
