What you'll do:

  • Act as a key point of contact for security matters on site, helping to maintain a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors and contractors.
  • Control and monitor the access and egress of people and vehicles, ensuring site security procedures are followed at all times.
  • Monitor premises using CCTV and other security systems, responding appropriately to any concerns or unusual activity.
  • Carry out regular security patrols and checks across the site.
  • Respond promptly to fire alarms, emergencies and security incidents, following established procedures.
  • Monitor and support the operation of fire control systems and carry out scheduled fire alarm testing.
  • Welcome visitors and contractors, ensuring appropriate checks, registration and site inductions are completed.
  • Maintain accurate records for keys, access cards and other security-controlled items.
  • Carry out vehicle security checks and accurately record vehicle information, including weighbridge activity where required.
  • Manage incoming calls and act as a professional first point of contact for the site.
  • Follow Health & Safety, emergency and evacuation procedures at all times.
  • Accurately record and report incidents, accidents, security concerns and unexpected visitors.
  • Complete detailed shift handovers, ensuring the incoming team has all relevant information.
  • Follow site Assignment Instructions and security procedures at all times.
  • Work flexibly with the wider team, providing additional security support when required.

What you'll bring:

  • A valid SIA Security Guarding licence - essential.
  • Previous experience working in a security role or similar environment.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of security procedures and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to deal professionally with employees, visitors and contractors.
  • Strong observational and situational awareness skills.
  • Experience with CCTV, access control and security systems would be beneficial.
  • An SIA CCTV licence would be advantageous.
  • The ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies or unexpected situations.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate security records and documentation.
  • A professional, customer-focused approach with a commitment to providing excellent service.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety, emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A flexible and reliable approach to work.
  • A full UK driving licence would be desirable.
