Are you an experienced Project Manager with a passion for delivering complex estates, infrastructure and building services projects? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and commercially-minded Project Manager, Life Cycle to join our Technical Services team supporting Northumbria University.
This is more than a project management role. It's a chance to play a pivotal role in futureproofing one of the UK's leading university estates, delivering critical building fabric, mechanical and electrical (M&E), and resilience projects that enhance the experience of thousands of students, residents, staff and visitors.
If you're an experienced Project Manager looking for your next challenge and want to play a key role in shaping the future of Northumbria University's estate, we'd love to hear from you.
Working as part of Sodexo's Technical Services team, you'll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of lifecycle and capital replacement projects ranging from small-scale improvements through to schemes valued at up to £1 million.
From project inception and business case development through to delivery, handover and review, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on budget and with minimal disruption to building users.
You'll be trusted to provide expert advice, challenge conventional thinking, identify innovative solutions and maximise return on investment across an ageing but strategically important estate.
One day you could be managing a critical M&E replacement project; the next you'll be developing lifecycle investment plans, engaging senior stakeholders or leading contractor performance reviews.
- Lead lifecycle, infrastructure, building fabric and M&E projects from concept through to completion.
- Conduct site surveys and develop detailed scopes of work.
- Prepare and manage project plans, programmes, budgets, risk registers and resource plans.
- Manage tender exercises and evaluate contractor proposals to identify best-value solutions.
- Oversee contractors, consultants and suppliers, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and performance.
- Monitor costs, manage budgets and proactively identify opportunities and risks.
- Develop robust business cases and ROI justifications for future investment.
- Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, Building Safety legislation and internal governance requirements.
- Produce clear project reporting, documentation and executive updates.
- Drive continuous improvement and support long-term estate resilience and sustainability objectives.
We're looking for a professional and proactive Project Manager who combines strong technical understanding with exceptional stakeholder management skills.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Project Management role.
- Proven experience delivering projects ranging from £5,000 to £1 million.
- Project Management qualification (PRINCE2 or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of construction, M&E building services and asset lifecycle management.
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and compliance.
- NEBOSH or IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
- Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- Experience within Higher Education or a complex operational estate environment.
