We are currently recruiting for a Furniture Technician to join our team at Merville Barracks, Colchester, CO2 7UT. This hands‑on role supports the delivery, repair, maintenance and management of furniture within a busy MOD environment.
Work Hours and Compensation:
- 37 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:00, Friday 08:00 to 15:30.
- Pay: £12.71 per hour.
- Free car parking.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out furniture repairs, maintenance and component replacements.
- Deliver, assemble, repair and replace furniture across site locations.
- Remove damaged furniture and dispose of items in line with procedures.
- Respond to Help Desk Calls (HDCs) and ensure tasks are completed within required timescales.
- Record and update HDC information accurately on daily record sheets.
- Prepare monthly audit paperwork and support stock audits.
- Undertake furniture audits using CAFM systems including Planet.
- Select and prepare furniture or components required for repairs and maintenance.
- Assist with warehouse duties, including loading and unloading deliveries and collections.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organisation.
- Ensure furniture and component stock remains serviceable and available.
- Update handheld scanners daily, weekly and monthly as required.
- Liaise with customers, unit representatives and colleagues to support service delivery.
- Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
- Support monthly furniture and component stock takes.
- Operate a forklift truck once trained.
- Assist colleagues and wider teams during periods of absence or increased workload.
- Ensure company vehicles are kept clean and maintained in a serviceable condition.
Follow all Health and Safety regulations.
