Domestic Assistant – Healthcare
Location: Hereford County Hospital
Hours: 15 hours per week
Pay: £12.92 per hour
As a Domestic Assistant at Sodexo, based at Hereford County Hospital, you play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors. Your work directly supports patient wellbeing and helps ensure high standards of care are delivered across the hospital. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in cleanliness, works well as part of a team, and understands the importance of safety and hygiene in a healthcare setting.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out cleaning duties across wards and departments to meet required standards and schedules
- Clean floors, furniture, bathrooms, and patient areas including beds and high‑touch surfaces
- Safely handle and dispose of waste, including clinical and domestic materials
- Use cleaning equipment and materials correctly, following COSHH and safety procedures
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels and toiletries
- Follow infection control procedures and respond to ad‑hoc cleaning requests when needed
- Work safely at all times, using PPE and following health & safety guidance
- Interact politely and professionally with patients, visitors and staff while maintaining confidentiality
