About the Role: As a General Catering Assistant / Barista, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the café and food service areas. From preparing and serving high-quality beverages and food to maintaining excellent hygiene standards, you'll help create a welcoming and professional experience for students, staff, and visitors. Working as part of a busy team, you'll support both core catering operations and retail café services while ensuring the highest standards of customer care.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with the preparation and serving of food and beverages
- Prepare and serve a range of coffees and speciality drinks using commercial coffee machines
- Operate café equipment including coffee machines, panini grills, blenders, and dishwashers
- Support both retail café operations and core feeding services
- Operate the EPOS till system and process cash and card transactions accurately
- Replenish food displays and service counters throughout the day
- Maintain clean, safe, and hygienic café, kitchen, and customer areas
- Follow all food hygiene, allergen, health & safety, and company procedures
- Support stock replenishment and deliveries
- Respond to customer queries in a friendly, professional manner
- Report incidents, complaints, compliments, or maintenance issues appropriately
- Attend training sessions and team meetings as required
- Support the wider catering team to ensure smooth daily operations
