Are you experienced in logistics, stores, or warehouse operations and looking for a role within a fast-paced military environment? We are looking for a proactive and organised Storekeeper (MJDI Material Accountant) to join the team at Merville Barracks, Colchester, CO2 7UT supporting key warehouse and distribution operations across site. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and ideally experience working within military logistics or stock control environments.
As a Storekeeper (MJDI - Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory - Material Accountant), you will support the delivery of Central Quartermaster Services, ensuring operational outputs are achieved in line with MOD regulations, contractual requirements, and service standards. Working as part of the warehouse and distribution team, you will be responsible for supporting stock management activities, maintaining accurate records, assisting with logistics operations, and helping ensure the smooth running of warehouse services across the Garrison. The role will involve using both Sodexo and MOD IT systems, including MJDI, to manage stock movements, demand processing, and inventory records.
What you'll do:
- Support the warehouse and distribution teams with daily operational tasks
- Process demands, receipts and issue of stock items using MJDI systems
- Carry out stocktaking and maintain accurate inventory records
- Maintain records for items with and without NSNs
- Manage Articles in Use (AinU) and stock held as SAFI
- Support the movement, availability and serviceability of Garrison RQMS held unit stores
- Deliver logistics outputs in accordance with MOD procedures and regulations
- Maintain strong working relationships with customers, colleagues and MOD personnel
- Support additional service contracts including laundry, tailoring, pest control and cobbling services when required
- Assist the team with internal and external audits
- Ensure all Health & Safety standards are maintained and report any incidents or near misses promptly
- Attend team meetings, huddles and operational briefings
- Maintain high professional standards at all times
What you bring:
- Strong numerical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Customer service focused approach
- Understanding of Health & Safety within the workplace
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
- Previous military logistics or warehouse experience
- Knowledge of MJDI (Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory) at Material Accountant level
- Experience managing customer relationships within a warehouse or logistics environment
