Job Description:
Are you an organised and detail-focused administrator who enjoys working in a busy office environment? We are looking for a Part-Time Headquarters Administrator to join our team at Merville Barracks, Colchester, providing essential administrative and clerical support within a busy operational environment.
The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter who is confident working independently, using their own initiative and managing your workload without requiring a high level of day-to-day supervision.
This is a varied role where you will support the wider team with day-to-day administration, maintain accurate records, coordinate meetings and assist with the preparation and collation of important information and reports.
What You'll Do:
- Providing general clerical and administrative support to the team.
- Drafting routine correspondence and documents as required.
- Collating and managing returns, statistics and other information, ensuring these are completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Providing day-to-day office support and responding to routine telephone enquiries.
- Acting as a point of contact for queries and ensuring these are resolved or passed to the appropriate person.
- Coordinating and arranging meetings and interviews.
- Preparing meeting rooms and facilities, including arranging stationery, materials and refreshments.
- Supporting meetings as required, including taking minutes and ensuring rooms are cleared afterwards.
- Notifying attendees of meetings in advance.
- Producing clear and accurate meeting minutes for review within three business days.
- Maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues, customers and clients.
- Supporting the team with other reasonable administrative duties as required.
What You Bring:
- Previous administrative experience, ideally gained within a busy office environment.
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage your workload.
- Ability to work accurately and meet tight deadlines.
- A professional and approachable manner.
- 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), or NVQ Business Administration Level 2.
Desirable
- ECDL or equivalent IT qualification.
- Previous experience or knowledge of military IT systems.
- An understanding of, or experience working within, a military environment.
