Job Introduction
We're looking for a Housekeeper to join our Healthcare team at Colchester Hospital. In this rewarding role, you'll play a vital part in supporting patient care by maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards, assisting with meal services, and ensuring wards and clinical environments remain safe, comfortable, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and colleagues.

What You'll Do
- Deliver high standards of cleaning and housekeeping across wards, clinical areas, offices, meeting rooms, and communal spaces.
- Support patient meal and beverage services in line with Food Hygiene Regulations and healthcare standards.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including the correct use of PPE and cleaning equipment.
- Replenish essential supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls throughout the hospital.
- Collect and manage waste safely in accordance with healthcare waste management procedures.
- Assist with stock control and ensure cleaning cupboards remain organised and fully stocked.
- Report maintenance issues, faults, and health and safety concerns promptly.
- Demonstrate compassion and professionalism when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the hospital environment through teamwork, flexibility, and excellent service delivery.
What You'll Bring
- A positive attitude and strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- A flexible approach to work, including participation in weekend rotas where required.
- Ability to prioritise tasks in a busy healthcare environment.
- Understanding of the importance of health, safety, infection control, and hygiene standards.
- Physical capability to undertake the duties of the role, including manual handling activities.
- Previous housekeeping, domestic, cleaning, or healthcare experience would be advantageous.
- NHS or healthcare sector experience is desirable but not essential
