Cleaning Operative

  • Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour
  • Hours: 20 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 1600-2000
  • Term Time: 40 week contract

Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. What You'll Do:

  • Carry out routine cleaning tasks at the scheduled time, following all relevant policies, procedures and COSHH requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across communal areas, classrooms, offices, toilets, changing rooms and specialist spaces.
  • Empty bins, collect and move refuse, and restock consumables such as soap, paper towels and toilet tissue.
  • Use only approved cleaning products, equipment and materials safely and efficiently, in line with training provided.
  • Undertake cleaning duties safely, using PPE and hazard signage where appropriate.
  • Clean floors, furnishings, equipment, windows and mirrors to the required standard.
  • Respond to ad hoc cleaning requests on site when required.
  • Be courteous, helpful and efficient, ensuring excellent customer care for staff, pupils and visitors.
  • Work collaboratively with other cleaning staff to maintain consistent standards across the school.
  • Take reasonable steps to minimise loss or damage to property and maintain a safe working environment.

  • Previous experience in a similar cleaning role, with knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, COSHH and safe working practices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with a polite and professional manner.
