We are looking for a detail-focused Vetting Officer to manage end-to-end vetting and pre-employment screening. You will ensure employees, contractors, and agency staff meet contractual, regulatory, and security requirements, while maintaining high standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full end-to-end vetting and pre-employment screening process
  • Conduct and assess vetting checks in line with government, client, and internal standards
  • Verify identity, right to work, employment history, criminal records, and references
  • Identify, manage, and escalate vetting risks or discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, GDPR, and data protection legislation
  • Maintain accurate, auditable vetting records and monitor clearance expiry dates
  • Act as a key point of contact for hiring managers, HR, security teams, and vetting providers
  • Provide clear updates on vetting progress and timescales
  • Support audits, process improvements, and high-volume onboarding activity

Qualifications

  • Experience in vetting, pre-employment screening, HR compliance, or security administration
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information
  • Knowledge of UK right-to-work requirements and data protection principles
  • Ability to manage high workloads to tight deadlines
  • Confident communicator able to challenge and escalate when needed

  • Experience in a government, defence, or highly regulated environment
  • Knowledge of BPSS, CTC, SC, or similar vetting frameworks
