The primary purpose of this role is to deliver a high-quality cleaning service, ensuring a clean, hygienic, and safe environment in line with Sodexo and client standards. The postholder will also support basic security duties to help maintain site safety, access control, and incident response, while providing excellent customer service and complying with all health, safety, and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning (Primary Focus)
- Deliver scheduled and ad-hoc cleaning services to a consistently high standard
- Clean floors, washrooms, sanitary areas, surfaces, furniture, and fittings
- Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls
- Empty and dispose of waste in line with waste management procedures
- Use approved cleaning chemicals, equipment, and machinery safely and correctly
- Follow colour-coding, COSHH, hygiene, and infection control procedures
- Store, maintain, and report faults with cleaning equipment
- Identify and report hazards, maintenance issues, and defects
- Wear PPE and use warning signage to ensure safety
- Participate in required cleaning and health & safety training
- Maintain a visible security presence within assigned areas
- Support access control for staff, contractors, and visitors as required
- Monitor CCTV, alarms, and building systems when necessary
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, and evacuations in line with procedures
- Complete incident and daily activity reports accurately
- Communicate politely and professionally with colleagues, clients, and visitors
- Maintain a professional appearance and follow uniform standards
- Work collaboratively with Sodexo management and site teams
- Comply with Sodexo, client, and statutory policies and procedures
- Uphold health, safety, and environmental standards at all times

Essential
- Previous experience as a Cleaning Operative
- Good knowledge of cleaning products, techniques, and equipment
- Understanding of COSHH and safe chemical use
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Desirable
- Experience using powered cleaning machinery
- Awareness of basic site security procedures
- First Aid or safety training
