Job Introduction

We are seeking a reliable and professional individual for the Building Craftsperson at Royal Stoke Hospital with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work confidently under pressure. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, adaptable to changing priorities, and have a solid understanding of Health and Safety. Excellent communication, report writing, and computer skills are essential. Relevant trade qualifications and experience in maintenance or healthcare environments are desirable. What You\'ll Do:
Planned Maintenance (PPM):
Inspect and service building elements (doors, windows, walls, floors, ceilings), fire doors, and fixtures per HTM 05-02.Reactive Repairs:
Fix faults and damage to walls, ceilings, floors, and fittings. Replace or adjust locks, door closers, and access controls.Minor Works & Installations:
Build shelves, cupboards, and similar items. Install locks, key safes, dispensers, and brackets in clinical/non-clinical areas.Fire Safety Compliance:
Maintain fire compartmentation and protection systems. Inspect and repair seals, fire-rated materials, and barriers.Health & Safety:
Follow safety procedures, use PPE, handle tools safely, and work within COSHH and Working at Height regulations.Records & Teamwork:
Log work on CAFM systems, complete records, support team tasks, and attend training to stay compliant.
What You Bring:
Essential:
Reliable, professional, and self-motivated.
Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving skills.
Able to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
Good understanding of Health and Safety.
Strong communication, report writing, and computer skills.
Willing to work overtime and attend training as needed.
Desirable:
Relevant apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3.
Health & Safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, Asbestos Awareness).
Access equipment qualifications (PASMA, IPAF).
Fire door and passive fire protection knowledge.
Experience in maintenance, healthcare, or live environment
