We are seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead and develop our customer focused retail, hospitality, and patient dining services at Birmingham Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality catering that meets contractual commitments, operates efficiently within budget, and complies with all relevant legislation and policies. With a proven track record in managing diverse catering operations, you will drive service development, achieve financial targets, and lead a dedicated team to provide exceptional experiences for our patients, visitors, and staff. What You'll Do:
- Proven experience in managing Patient Dining and Retail services within a hospital environment, with full operational knowledge of the relevant areas.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing a team, including workload planning, resource allocation, and performance management.
- Ability to report on KPIs, financial performance, and manage budgets effectively to ensure service excellence and cost control.
- Knowledge of food safety, health and safety legislation, and compliance standards, with experience ensuring safety standards are maintained across all staff and contractors.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to liaise with hospital staff, client stakeholders, and external agencies, enhancing service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and uphold company policies, procedures, and training programmes, fostering a culture of high quality service and compliance.
- Strong focus on customer satisfaction, with experience monitoring and improving service standards to ensure high levels of patient and client satisfaction.
What You Bring:
- Proven experience in leading a team within a service environment, healthcare experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong financial awareness, including cost control, revenue management, and margin optimisation in a catering setting.
- Excellent communication skills with patients, visitors, colleagues, and clients.
- Ability to work independently, flexibly, and professionally in stressful and changing situations.
- Experience in delivering relevant training in line with company guidelines.
- Sound understanding of Health and Safety, employment laws, and other legislative requirements.
- Proficiency in IT skills, including working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
