The Electrician at HMP YOI Bronzefield plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance of electrical systems across the establishment. Working as part of the Facilities Management team, the postholder is responsible for carrying out installation, testing, inspection, repair, and planned preventative maintenance works. The role supports the Maintenance Supervisor and wider FM team in delivering a high standard of service within a secure environment.
HMP Bronzefield is a closed local prison and the largest female prison in the UK and Europe. The prison delivers high-quality, needs-led services that support women to make positive and lasting changes. It supports a diverse population, including mothers with babies, young offenders, women serving a range of sentence lengths, foreign nationals, and those on remand. The site includes residential units, a healthcare centre, gym, library, workshops, visits hall, chaplaincy, and kitchen facilities.

Main Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, repair, and planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems within the establishment
- Perform fault finding and diagnostics to ensure timely resolution of electrical issues
- Undertake testing, inspection, and PAT testing in line with current regulations and 18th Edition standards
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, inspection, and repair work completed
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health & Safety regulations and Sodexo policies
- Support the FM team by escorting contractors and assisting with specialist works when required
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified to 18th Edition (BS 7671) with relevant electrical trade certification
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding, installation, and repair
- Experience in testing, inspection, and PAT testing within a commercial or industrial environment
- Knowledge of HVAC, AHU, controls, or BMS systems (desirable)
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures and working in compliant environments
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines in a secure setting
- Must be eligible for EL2 MOJ vetting clearance and hold an Enhanced DBS
Package
- Base salary: 39,824.73 per annum
- 3,729.24 London Weighting
- 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm
