The predicted salary is between 40000 - 40000 £ per year.
You will oversee the day to day delivery of both catering and cleaning operations on site. You will lead a self-sufficient catering team as well as manage a cleaning team who begin their shifts later in the day. You will be responsible for ensuring that the food and level of service are of the highest calibre and that the school catering is among the best in the region. Your attitude will influence your team's daily lives as the person they go to for direction and support, which will in turn foster a vibrant and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and motivate both the catering and cleaning teams, ensuring standards remain consistently high across both services.
- Oversee the full catering service from breakfast through lunch, including food preparation, counter service, menu delivery, and end-of-service dismantling.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, food hygiene, and cleaning standards through regular audits and daily checks.
- Plan and develop menus that meet nutritional standards and appeal to a large student population.
- Manage, mentor, and train team members, ensuring a positive and inclusive working environment.
- Be responsible for weekly budget oversight - ensuring cost control, avoiding overspend, and driving profitable delivery without impacting quality.
- Maintain strong client relationships and effective communication with school leadership.
- Support operational scheduling and ensure appropriate staffing across both services.
- Oversee cleaning operations which begin at 3pm, ensuring smooth handover and service consistency.
- Ensure uniformity in service delivery for students, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing catering operations within a large-scale environment (schools, hospitals, care settings, or similar).
- Strong leadership skills and the confidence to manage a team across two service areas.
- Experience working with fresh ingredients and producing meals at volume.
- Ability to multitask across catering and cleaning functions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills to maintain a positive relationship with the client.
- A solid understanding of budgeting and cost control within a catering environment.
- Awareness and commitment to health & safety and food hygiene standards.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and lead by example with professionalism and a positive attitude.
