As an Electrical Craftsperson at Sodexo, we’re looking for someone who keeps things running smoothly—the one who knows how to solve problems, offer expert advice, and ensure the hospital estate operates at its best.
As an Electrical Craftsperson at Royal Stoke Hospital and Haywood Hospital, you’ll be the go‑to expert for technical support and maintenance across equipment, building systems, and utility services.
What You’ll Do- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance in line with legislation, HTMs, manufacturer guidance and Department of Health technical documentation across both Royal Stoke and Haywood Hospital.
- Ensure safe operation of all plant and equipment, managing permits to work, safe systems of work, and compliance with health, safety and welfare requirements.
- Support Engineering Management to meet contractual response and rectification times, producing reports and documentation to ensure contract and commercial compliance.
- Manage and monitor PPM and reactive maintenance services, including out-of-hours call‑out rotas, with a strong focus on cost‑effective service delivery.
- Use CAFM, BMS and other IT systems to monitor performance, manage assets, and provide quality assurance and management reporting.
- Provide technical leadership, training, guidance and hands‑on support to engineering teams, supervisors and Trust stakeholders to develop skills and performance.
- Contribute to commercial and operational management of the estate, including compliance monitoring, workshop oversight, materials procurement advice, and cover for team absences when required.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Qualified electrical engineer with recognised apprenticeship and C&G/BTEC (or equivalent), fully competent to BS 7671 18th Edition; 2391 Test & Inspection desirable.
- Proven, substantial experience within the electrical trade, demonstrating confidence, maturity and sound technical judgement.
- Strong hands‑on capability in fault finding, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of plant and equipment, including reading electrical and panel drawings.
- Experience working with critical power systems such as UPS and generator backup systems.
- Logical problem‑solver who remains calm and effective under pressure, able to assess situations and respond with appropriate urgency.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety at Work regulations and safe systems of work.
- Computer literate with report‑writing skills; knowledge of BMS systems and strong verbal, written and numerical communication skills.
- Desirable experience in mechanical maintenance, healthcare or hospital environments, steam/refrigeration systems, and multi‑discipline team working.
