Join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Hospital as an Operational Estates Officer (Engineering) and play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of our extensive estate infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Operational Estates Manager, you will be entrusted with overseeing a diverse range of engineering plant, equipment, and services across our Trust properties. What you’ll do:
- Manage the site wide steam distribution and condense systems, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Oversee the inspection and maintenance of pressure vessels in accordance with Pressure Systems Regulations.
- Manage all air conditioning plant and systems across the estate.
- Ensure Legionella control measures are implemented and compliant with HTMs and HSE L8 guidance.
- Act as an Authorised Person for Medical Gases and oversee associated safety procedures.
- Coordinate major infrastructure shutdowns in collaboration with affected departments and permit to work systems.
- Manage external contractors for maintenance and project works, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
What you bring:
- Qualified to at least HNC level or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience in maintaining mechanical building services.
- Qualified as an Authorised Person (Medical Gases).
- Previous experience managing steam raising plant and leading teams.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, health and safety legislation, and legionella control.
- Skilled in contract management, budgeting, and report writing.
- Excellent communication, planning, and decision making skills, with computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
