Job Introduction:
As a Porter at Sodexo in North Devon District Hospital, you will be an essential part of the hospital's daily operations — safely moving patients, vital equipment, and medical supplies throughout the site. With professionalism and a friendly approach, you will help reduce the stress of hospital visits for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
What you will do:
- Allocate all service requests to the duty Service Team.
- Coordinate services via radio/telephone (e.g. patient and equipment transfers) in line with Sodexo communication policies.
- Accurately log and manage all requests on the computerised service management system.
- Deliver professional, polite customer service and follow telephone procedures.
- Support the Manager with helpdesk administration and provide required reports.
- Maintain accurate records for accommodation, parking permits, schedules, absence, and KPIs.
- Monitor and report faults, incidents, and disciplinary matters in line with procedures.
- Assist with training, induction, system improvements, and general administrative duties as required.

- Physical stamina and ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
- Awareness of health and safety practices in a hospital setting.
- Calmness under pressure and adaptability to changing tasks.
- An understanding of confidentiality, emotional resilience, and sensitivity in difficult situations.
- Previous experience of office or administration duties.
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft applications.
- Experience of dealing with public & staff at all levels.
