Job Introduction

We are looking for a Domestic Assistant to join our Sodexo team at North Devon District Hospital. In this vital role, you will help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will directly support health and wellbeing throughout the hospital.

What you will do:

  • Carry out scheduled cleaning tasks in designated areas, following all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness across all areas of responsibility.
  • Safely manage and dispose of domestic and clinical waste in line with infection prevention and control guidelines.
  • Replenish consumables such as paper towels, toilet rolls, soap, and other cleaning supplies.
  • Use, store, and maintain cleaning equipment and materials safely and in compliance with COSHH regulations.
  • Perform a range of domestic duties including cleaning sanitary areas and surfaces, bed cleaning, dishwashing, curtain changing, floor care, and waste collection.
  • Respond to ad-hoc cleaning requests and report any maintenance or care concerns to supervisors, ensuring a patient-focused service.
  • Support hospital operations by undertaking additional housekeeping or departmental duties as required by the line manager.
