About the role

Sodexo is looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Chef / Apprentice Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team at Denison Barracks, RG18 9TP. What you’ll do

  • Learn and develop core cooking and food preparation techniques from experienced chefs
  • Assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to high standards
  • Support with portion control, food presentation, and safe catering practices
  • Maintain excellent personal and operational hygiene at all times
  • Follow “clean as you go” principles and ensure working areas are tidy and safe
  • Monitor, record, and maintain correct food temperatures (fridges, freezers, hot cabinets, serveries)
  • Ensure proper disposal, storage, and decanting of food items
  • Adhere to all Food Safety, Health & Safety, and COSHH regulations
  • Comply with opening/closing procedures, safety checks, and kitchen handover processes
  • Work collaboratively as part of a friendly, supportive team
  • Continue developing your skills and knowledge throughout your apprenticeship
