Job Description:
Position: Head Chef at Sodexo, Moolton Barracks SP9 7BX
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team and prepare, cook and present high-quality meals to our customers.
You'll play an important role in delivering excellent food standards while maintaining strong food safety, hygiene and health & safety practices. You'll also help ensure an efficient and successful catering operation, with a focus on customer satisfaction, quality and minimising waste.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare, cook and present food to a consistently high standard.
- Follow recipes, menus and company food preparation procedures.
- Ensure food is presented attractively and meets customer expectations.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness, following a clean-as-you-go approach.
- Monitor and record temperatures of fridges, freezers, hot cabinets and serveries.
- Ensure food is stored, recovered, handled and disposed of correctly.
- Ensure food is served at the correct temperatures.
- Support effective stock control and correct storage of food.
- Help minimise food, fuel and other waste.
- Operate the Sodexo recipe, menu and ordering systems in line with company procedures.
- Support the Pay as You Dine operation, with an understanding of costs and profit and loss.
- Report equipment defects, maintenance issues and other concerns to the appropriate Manager.
- Complete effective handovers and follow closing and security procedures.
- Follow all company Quality Control, Food Safety and Health & Safety procedures.
- Work effectively as part of a team while also being able to use your own initiative.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
- Continue to develop your skills and knowledge within the role.
What You Bring:
- A City & Guilds 706/1 and 2, NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent qualification.
- A basic Food Safety qualification.
- Good numerical and communication skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and health & safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established standards and procedures.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A professional and positive approach to your work.
- A genuine passion for preparing and serving quality food.
Desirable
- IOSH and/or CIEH qualifications, or equivalent.
- Previous experience working within the catering industry.
- Experience of working within a military environment.
