Full driving license is required for this role, and for insurance purposes must be over 21.

As an Estates Assistant at Sodexo, we’re looking for someone who keeps things running smoothly—the one who knows how to solve problems, offer expert advice, and ensure the hospital estate operates at its best.

As an Estates Assistant at Royal Stoke Hospital, you'll be the go‑to expert for technical support and maintenance across equipment, building systems, and utility services.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance of building fabric, plant, and equipment in line with regulations, HTMs, manufacturers’ guidance, and the Project Agreement.
  • Support the Building & Fabric Management and Hard FM teams to meet contractual response times, rectification targets, and documentation requirements.
  • Assist with statutory and annual maintenance programmes, including shutdowns of occupied areas where required.
  • Ensure safe operation, calibration, and maintenance of equipment, identifying sources of error and maintaining safe systems of work.
  • Manage reactive maintenance services during normal and out-of-hours hospital operations.
  • Gather technical information, compare Department of Health guidance, and support efficient parts identification and ordering processes.
  • Maintain strong communication and working relationships with Trust managers, clinical and non-clinical staff, helpdesk teams, and relevant working groups.
  • Promote compliance with Health & Safety legislation, site policies, cleaning regimes, and undertake additional training while maintaining a hands-on approach.
  • ADHOC tasks such as moving equipment between sites and identifying assets.

What You Bring

  • Strong interest in the facilities industry with relevant maintenance or engineering experience (healthcare environment desirable).
  • Confident, capable, and self-motivated individual able to assess situations and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Logical problem-solver who remains calm under pressure and understands urgency of response.
  • Enthusiastic, driven, and prepared to work overtime when required.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety principles and compliance requirements.
  • Willingness to attend internal and external training courses to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Computer literate with effective report-writing capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a good standard of mathematical ability.
  • Full UK driving License.
