Chef de Partie | GSK, Stevenage, Gunnels Wood Road, Herts, SG1 2NY

At Sodexo, you'll belong in a team where great food, creativity and exceptional service come together. We're looking for a passionate and experienced Chef de Partie to join our catering team at the GSK site in Stevenage.

You'll take responsibility for a designated section of the kitchen, preparing and cooking high-quality dishes while maintaining excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, presentation and portion control. You'll work closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef as part of a busy kitchen operation serving around 600 lunchtime covers.

You'll be part of a team of four chefs, one Food Service Assistant and two Kitchen Porters, delivering a varied food offer including traditional and bistro-style meals, street food and a salad bar.

What you'll do

  • Prepare and cook dishes to recipes and agreed standards
  • Take responsibility for your designated kitchen section
  • Ensure preparation is completed ahead of service
  • Ensure dishes are ready for 8:00am breakfast and 11:30am lunch service
  • Maintain high standards of taste, presentation and portion control
  • Monitor stock levels within your section and highlight shortages
  • Support with receiving and checking deliveries
  • Rotate stock using FIFO principles and help minimise food waste
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures
  • Prevent cross-contamination and maintain safe food handling practices
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen and work station
  • Complete daily temperature records, cleaning schedules and allergen documentation
  • Report technical faults, safety concerns and incidents to your line manager
  • Work closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef to support smooth kitchen operations
  • Attend mandatory training, daily briefs and weekly team huddles
  • Support the wider catering team with reasonable additional duties when required
  • Work flexibly to support business needs

What you'll bring

  • Culinary qualification such as City & Guilds Level 1–2 or NVQ equivalent
  • Food Safety Level 2–3
  • Allergen awareness
  • Good understanding of HACCP, food storage and allergen control
  • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment
  • Strong attention to detail and an eye for food presentation
  • Good time management and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced kitchen
  • Good understanding of portion control, stock rotation and food waste
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Good physical fitness and ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift stock, carry trays and undertake repetitive tasks
