What you'll do:
- Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Security Operations team.
- Manage shift operations, ensuring effective cover and deployment across the site.
- Prepare and manage staff rotas, arranging additional cover when required.
- Lead the onboarding and induction of new Security Officers.
- Deliver training and complete regular competency checks with the team.
- Conduct annual performance and development reviews (PDRs) for direct reports.
- Coach and support colleagues, maintaining high standards of professionalism and performance.
- Provide clear direction and make confident operational decisions when challenges arise.
Security Operations
- Oversee site security, including access and egress control, CCTV, patrols and visitor management.
- Coordinate responses to security incidents, fire alarms, intruder alerts and other emergencies.
- Ensure incidents are managed professionally, promptly and in accordance with site procedures.
- Manage control room activities, including access control and weighbridge operations.
- Coordinate perimeter, building and car park patrols.
- Ensure visitors and contractors are correctly booked in and inducted.
- Support staff and vehicle searches where required.
- Act as a site key holder.
- Liaise with emergency services and other relevant authorities when required.
- Complete and oversee accurate incident reports and security records.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain and monitor SIA licence records for the security team.
- Ensure security documentation, Health & Safety records and incident reports are accurate and up to date.
- Issue and review risk assessments for site-specific activities.
- Coordinate required electrical safety checks.
- Ensure Health & Safety concerns, near misses and incidents are reported and appropriately managed.
- Support audits and ensure the team consistently follows site policies and procedures.
- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve security service delivery.
Client & Customer Service
- Build strong working relationships with the client, colleagues, visitors and contractors.
- Attend client-facing meetings and provide operational updates when required.
- Communicate clearly with management regarding incidents, performance and service delivery.Maintain a professional, approachable and customer-focused security service.
- Proactively identify issues and implement practical solutions.
What you'll bring:
- A current SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding licence.
- Previous experience working within the security industry.
- Experience supervising or leading a security team within a busy operational environment.
- Confidence managing shifts, rotas and operational cover.
- Experience supporting the training, onboarding and development of colleagues.
- Strong incident-management and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of access control, patrols and security procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The confidence to engage with clients, management, contractors and employees at all levels.
- Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate electronic and written records.
- The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
- A proactive, professional and customer-focused approach.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
A clean driving licence may be required where driving duties form part of the role.
Previous experience with weighbridge operations, site patrols or facilities/security operations would be advantageous.
