Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Security Supervisor to oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the security service at Baker & Baker. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment, supporting excellent people care, and ensuring all staff, visitors, and contractors leave with a positive impression of the security service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the security team shift rota
- Organise, supervise, and support the daily activities of Security Officers
- Induct and train new security staff in line with site requirements
- Oversee goods in / goods out processes to ensure efficient and secure operation
- Monitor, review, and follow up on Incident Reports completed by Security Officers
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors and contractors, issuing and logging visitor/contractor passes
- Monitor CCTV systems and take appropriate action when required
- Control and monitor the issue of keys to staff and contractors
- Respond to emergencies and incidents in accordance with Baker & Baker procedures
- Prepare detailed written incident reports (including noise, intrusions, vandalism, and misdemeanours) and issue to the client
- Provide initial emergency response call cover when required
- Manage telephone enquiries, operate the site telephone answering service, and forward calls as appropriate
- Ensure out-of-hours checks of fire exits, fire doors, and fire-fighting equipment are completed
- Communicate effectively with staff, visitors, and contractors regarding enquiries, incidents, and emergencies
- Adhere to and actively promote Baker & Baker Health & Safety policies and procedures
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- All client complaints acknowledged and actioned within 48 hours and followed through to resolution
- Full compliance with ISO 9001 secure systems and procedures
- Adherence to all statutory and company regulations relating to Health & Safety, fire hygiene, COSHH, and safe systems of work
- Development of a motivated, high-performing team through training and development activities in line with the unit training plan
Additional Responsibilities
- Recruitment of staff (subject to approval by Account Manager / Group Security Manager)
- Conduct investigatory meetings and manage minor disciplinary matters, escalating to Site Services Manager and HR where required
- Deliver a consistent level of service in line with contract specifications, company standards, and agreed performance targets
- Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and ensure staff are appropriately trained
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Essential
- Valid SIA Licence
- Proven knowledge of security techniques and procedures
- Strong understanding of site-specific and local emergency procedures
- Experience using security-related computer systems
- Working knowledge of CCTV, alarm systems, and access control
- Professional, calm, and diplomatic approach at all times
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and display an official but courteous manner
- Desirable
- Working knowledge of BS7858:2013
- CCTV Licence
- First Aid qualification
- Fire Warden training
